I've noticed that this piece was submitted quite a while ago and no critiques were written so far. Since the painting attracted my eye on first sight, I have decided to write my very first critique.
Contrast is what caught my eye at first. Light green/yellow background implies sunny day and relaxes my eyes, it also allows passionate red flowers to stand out. Composition seems right as well, there is no disturbance neither in color or shape that I could spot. Painting seems to have a texture, I can imagine that texture would bring the subject out of the background a little.
If I could find anything to discuss about this painting, to me it would be it's name. If these poppies are truly lonely, they seem to be happy about it
Overall, this painting is a beautiful work, worth recognition. Flowers have always been a grateful subject for artists, but I feel there are at least two ways of capturing beauty - the one that can be seen on surface and the one that reflects character of things. I feel you have managed to capture the spirit of flowers, not just their shell.
